主要学历和工作经历：
1984年毕业于原湖南农学院，获学士学位；
1987年获硕士学位并留校任教，先后任助教、讲师；
1991年至1994年在湖南农业大学植物生理学专业攻读博士学位，任校研究生会主席；
1994年获理学博士学位，在湖南农业大学基础科学部任讲师、副教授；
曾先后在华中农业大学、澳大利亚西澳大学、日本鹿儿岛大学从事访问研究。
1995年至1998年在美国加利福尼亚大学从事博士后研究；
1998年7月晋升教授，1999年3月被遴选为博士生导师。
现为湖南农业大学教授、湖南省植物激素与生长发育重点实验室主任。兼任中国植物生理学会理事、植物生理学与分子生物学报编委、湖南农业大学学报副主编、湖南农业大学科协副主席、湖南省植物学会常务理事
等学术职务。
研究方向：
目前主要研究方向为植物激素与生长调节剂，曾在国内外学术刊物和学术会议发表研究论文50余篇，主编教材和著作5本，获国家专利2项。1999年被确定为湖南省跨世纪学术带头人培养对象，2000年荣立二等功、2002年被评为省优秀留学回国人员，为第七届、第八届湖南省青联常委，2003年被评为全国优秀留学人员并受到胡锦涛和温家宝等多位党和国家领导人的接见。
获奖情况：
先后获湖南省科技进步奖3项，湖南省优秀教学成果奖2项，获湖南省青年科技创新奖1项和湖南省自然科学优秀论文2项，2003年荣获全国留学回国人员成就奖，2004年当选湖南农业大学2名拔尖人才之一。

LANGTAO XIAO, Male, Ph.D. Professor Hunan Agricultural University
Education and Professional Services:
He received a B.A. degree in horticulture from Hunan
Agricultural College in 1984, a M.S. degree in horticulture from
the same College in 1987, and a Ph.D. in plant physiology from
Hunan Agricultural University in 1994. He also visited Central
China Agricultural University, University of Western Australia
in Australia and Kagoshima University in Japan as a visiting
scientist.
He was appointed assistant professor in horticulture at Hunan
Agricultural College from 1987-1991, postdoctoral fellow at
University of California from 1995-1998 and has been appointed a
professor in plant physiology at Hunan Agricultural University
since 1998. He has been the director of Hunan Provincial Key
Laboratory of Phytohormones and Growth Development since 2001,
council member of Chinese Society of Plant Physiologists since
2003, editorial board member of Journal of Plant Physiology and
Molecular Biology since 2002, vice chief editor of Journal of
Hunan Agricultural University since 2000, vice chair of the
Science and Technology Association of Hunan Agricultural
University, council member of Hunan Provincial Botanical
Society.
His current research interest is focused on plant growth
substances and plant growth regulators. He published more than
50 research papers and 5 books and textbooks and received 2
state patents. He was elected the 7 th and 8 th standing
committee member of Hunan Provincial Youth Association and
appraised the provincial and national Outstanding Returned
Scholars from Overseas and interviewed by top Chinese leaders
including Chairman Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao.
